My Best Gingerbread

1/2 Cup Sugar 1/2 Cup Oleo Or Butter
1 Egg 1 Cup Molasses
2 1/2 Cup Flour 1 Tsp Cinnamon
1 Tsp Ginger 1/2 Tsp Cloves
1/2 Tsp Salt 1 Cup Hot Water

Cream sugar and oleo. Add eggs and molasses. Combine all dry ingredients and add to the mixture. Add hot water last, beating until smooth. Bake at 350 degrees in greased and floured 9 by 13 inch pan for 25 to 30 minutes, until top is springy and toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
