Lemon Cream Pie (Grandma Ferris)

1 1/2 Cup Sugar 1 3/4 Cup Water
1 1/2 Tbl Oleo 1/2 Cup Corn Starch
5 Tbl Water 5 Egg Yolks
3 Tbl Milk 12 Tbl Real Lemon Juice

Combine 1 1/2 cups sugar, 1 3/4 cup of water, 1 1/2 tablespoons of oleo and cook together. Mix 1/2 cup of corn starch and 5 tablespoons of water and add to the hot mixture above. Cook until clear. Beat 5 egg yolks with 3 tablespoons of milk, add to the mixture and cook 2 minutes longer. Remove from heat and mix in 12 tablespoons of real lemon juice. Pour into baked pie shell and top with beaten egg whites. Use 9 inch shell. Bake meringue 20 minutes at 325 degrees. Cooking time may vary in different microwaves.
