Spice Pecan Ring
3/4 Cup Milk |
1/4 Cup Oleo |
1 Pkg Yeast |
1 Tsp Salt |
1 Tsp Cloves |
1 Large Egg, Separate |
1 Egg White, Beaten |
1/2 Cup Water |
3 1/2 Cup To 4 Cup Flour |
1/2 Cup Brown Sugar, Packed |
2 Tsp Cinnamon |
1 Tsp Nutmeg |
1 Cup Pecans, Chopped |
8 Pecan Halves |
Heat milk and oleo over low heat until very warm. Combine 2 cups of
flour, yeast, brown sugar, salt and spices in a large bowl, add milk
mixture gradually. Beat on low speed until blended, scraping bowl, add
1/2 more cup of flour and egg. Beat 3 minutes more on medium speed, stir
in another 1/2 cup of flour and pecans with a spoon to make a soft dough.
Knead in another 1/2 to one cup of flour. Put in bowl, let it rise,
cover for 1 1/2 hours, or until double punch down and let rest 15
minutes and cut off 1/3 of the dough. Place larger piece into a rope 20
inches long, form into an 8 inch circle on greased cookie sheet. Pinch
ends together to seal, use scissors to cut 3/4 inch intervals, cover let
rise 1 hour. Brushing with egg white arrange pecans on top. Bake at 375
for 35 minutes, cover top with foil the last ten minutes.
